READING Frame
Making Books About Genetic Conditions More Available
A Resource Sharing Project
This site-in-progress will consolidate books about living with various genetic conditions. Our goal is to make this a centralized resource that is not only used within the medical genetics community but shared freely with public libraries. Books about genetic conditions are usually niche subjects and increasing access to these topics for patrons could help increase awareness and provide more resources to the public.
In addition, we will also have a section of the site dedicated to “Recommended Reading” where advocacy organizations for those living with a genetic condition can suggest books that may be helpful as bibliotherapy to individuals or families on their diagnostic journey.
Why contribute your book?
1) It can help others know what topics have been addressed so far
2) It can help identify gaps in available resources
3) It can increase the possibility for your book to be recommend to others
4) It can provide an opportunity for people to learn about genetic conditions they would otherwise not know about
